Success Story: Complex Spouse Entry Clearance Visa Application Granted

Our Immigration Team has recently received a positive result for one of our clients. We successfully represented our client to enter the UK as a spouse of a British citizen under Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules.

The case raised complex issues in relation to meeting the Financial Requirements, as the client sought to rely on cash savings split between two separate bank accounts.

Our solicitors carefully reviewed the client’s evidence, collated the necessary declarations, and addressed these issues in a detailed cover letter in order to assist the Entry Clearance Officer with the decision. As a result, the application was granted.

How can you meet the Financial Requirements threshold with cash savings?

Ordinarily, relying on cash savings is one of the more straightforward ways to meet the Financial Requirements threshold.  In order to rely on cash savings alone, you will need to show that you have at least £62,500 in cash savings which has been held by either, or both of, the applicant and the sponsor for at least six months in a bank account. The applicant or the sponsor will also need to provide a declaration as to the source of these savings.

What evidence needs to be submitted with the application?

Certain documents must be submitted with your application, or your application can be refused; these are called specified documents.

In cases where your cash savings are derived from many sources or where they are spread across multiple bank accounts, the evidential requirements become more complicated. Therefore it is recommended that you seek assistance from a solicitor who can guide you through the evidence you must provide in support of your application.
