A Fiancé visa allows a British citizen or a person with UK settled status to bring their non-EEA fiancé to live in the UK. The Fiancé visa grants you the permission to enter and stay in the UK for 6 months, and you must intend to get married within the six months period of the visa. If you marry your fiancé on this visa, you can apply for further leave to remain beyond the 6 month period of the visa.
Can I bring my fiancé to the UK?
To be eligible for the Fiancé visa, you will need to satisfy the following conditions:
- You are both over the age of 18
- You have met in person
- You are both free to marry and previous relationships have broken down
- Your relationship is genuine
- You intend to live together permanently in the UK
- You will be adequately maintained in the UK without recourse to public funds
- There is adequate accommodation for you and your dependants
- You speak and understand English to the required level
How much does a Fiancé visa cost?
The current Home Office fee is £1,523 for a Fiancé visa if made outside the UK. For applications made inside the UK, the Home Office fee is £1033.
The applicant may also need to pay the healthcare surcharge as part of their application.
What is the minimum income requirement for the Fiancé visa?
To apply for the Fiancé visa, you must provide specified evidence to show that you have sufficient funds to support yourself in the UK.
The general financial requirement is £18,600 for a Fiancé visa. Your sponsor can satisfy the financial requirement through permanent salaried employment, savings or self-employment. The evidential requirements for those who wish to rely on self-employment are far more extensive, so it is best to seek the assistance of a solicitor who can help you gather the necessary documentation for the application.
