New Graduate Route Launched Today

The new Graduate route for international students has now opened for applications. This route allows international students to remain in the UK after completing their studies for 2 years, or 3 years if they have a PhD or other doctorate qualification. This route offers greater flexibility to graduates looking to develop their career in the UK, as it allows you to work in any sector and at any level without any minimum salary requirements or the need for visa sponsorship. Applications for this new route are considered in accordance with the Immigration Rules Appendix Graduate. For further advice on this new points-based system route, please contact our immigration team to arrange a consultation with one of our solicitors.

Who is eligible for the new Graduate Route Visa?

To be eligible for the Graduate route, you must:

  • have, or have last had, a Tier 4 or Student visa;
  • have completed a UK bachelor’s degree, a UK postgraduate degree, or other relevant qualification from a higher education provider;
  • have not previously held permission on the Doctorate Extension Scheme.

You must apply for the Graduate route from inside the UK and do so before your student visa expires. You will not need to demonstrate your English language ability as your degree will serve as proof for this.

How much does the new Graduate Route Visa cost?

The Home Office application fee for the new Graduate Route Visa is £700. The application also requires you to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge fee, which is charged at £624 per year for the visa. The Immigration Skills Charge is not payable for this visa route, unlike the Skilled Worker route.

Do I need to be sponsored for this visa route?

You will not need to be sponsored for your employment during the 2 or 3 year period of the visa, unlike with other points-based system routes such as the Student, Skilled Worker and T5 Temporary Worker.

Can Dependents apply under the new Graduate Route?

Your dependant family members can also apply under this route. If your family member already has permission as a Student dependant, they can apply for further permission to stay under the Graduate route.

Using our Immigration Solicitors in London to submit an EU Settlement Scheme Appeal

Legal representatives, such as our specialist immigration and visa law firm, are qualified to advise you on immigration law and your immigration status. It is possible to instruct an immigration and visa legal representative to submit an EU Settlement Scheme appeal.

Caseworkers at the Home Office are trained to reject applications, which are improperly prepared, for example by failing to provide the correct supporting evidence. In order to ensure your EU Settlement Scheme appeal succeeds, all necessary documents must be provided.

This can be a significant administrative task and you will need to submit the correct documentary evidence. The UK Immigration Rules are complex and a legal representative can help ensure that your EU Settlement Scheme appeal meets the rules.
